The Gold Coast is Australia’s sixth largest and fastest growing city. Despite it’s dynamic reputation as a modern city set in a picturesque setting and warm climate it has a rapidly growing elderly population and the epidemics of obesity, diabetes and vascular disease are mounting a considerable challenge for strained health care resources. This generates additional challenges in managing the burden of vascular disease, namely; the provision of timely and effective treatment, providing cost-effective and durable therapies for an increasingly aged population, innovative minimally invasive methods and models of care and the challenges of training the vascular specialist workforce for the future to name but a few.
At Vascular2010 we hope to examine and debate these emerging challenges and provide a 20-20 vision for vascular disease management in Australia and New Zealand in the future.
Away from the conjecture of the meeting, visitors will find the beautiful climate, outdoor activities and laid-back lifestyle extremely enticing. From the hinterland region to the famed Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach beaches – Gold Coast Australia has many attractions waiting for you to explore.
