The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) to train surgeons and maintain surgical standards.

Doctors who have obtained their qualifications overseas should consult the Australian Medical Council or the Medical Council of New Zealand about recognition of their qualifications.

Those who have obtained specialist qualifications overseas will normally be required to apply through the appropriate Medical Council to undergo a vocational assessment by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons also offers resources available for assessment of International Medication Graduates on their website.
